Mauldin Endowed Scholarships Continue To Provide Support For Una Students

Officials with Bank Independent andUNA recognized thenewestrecipientsof theEdward Fennel Mauldin Endowed Scholarshipsat a ceremonyThursdayafternoon, bringing the total number to six recipients. The scholarships are in honor of Edward Fennel Mauldin, the bank's late chairman and father of current Bank Independent President, Macke Mauldin. The twostudentsacceptingscholarshipsfor the first timeare Shelby Heathcoat and Indigo Fort.Heathcoatisasecond-yeargraduate student inEnglish from Florence, Alabama; whileFort isa first-year graduate student in the Family Studies program from Colbert County. The fourrecipients of ongoing scholarshipsare:Benjamin "Ben"Ish, asophomorefinance major from Rogersville and second-year Mauldin Scholarship recipient;Brittany Michael, ajuniorpoliticalscience/legalstudies major from Florence andthird-year Mauldin Scholarship recipient;Logan Heflin, aseniornursing major from Florence andthird-year Mauldin Scholarship recipient; andDavid "Drew" Fisher, aseniorHPER major fromLawrenceburg, Tennessee,andsecond-year Mauldin Scholarship recipient. Thesixrecipientswere on hand for the announcementThursdayat the Bank Independent offices on Avalon Avenue in Muscle Shoals.Macke Mauldin,president of Bank Independent,said the scholarships go far beyond the Shoals."Educating our young people is the most important thing we can do to positively impact the future of the world."
