The event will take place Friday, Oct. 3, from 2 - 9 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Coby Hall on campus. Nelson, who passed away in January of 2014, taught at UNA for 30 years and touched the lives of thousands of students. All the books are drawn from Nelson's personal library, which includes thousands of works on American and European history, as well as current political issues. Nelson's widow, Verlie, has attached a plate to each book: "From the library of Dr. Larry Nelson: In Memoriam." All proceeds from the sale will be used to fund a speakership series, The Larry Nelson Memorial Lectures, an annual event that will bring renowned historians to UNA to share and discuss their work with the university and the Florence community.
